I am an actor, singer, performer, lighting designer, and stage manager.
The first time I performed on the stage was in the 6th grade as Oliver Hix (one of the Barber Shop Quartet) in The Music Man. That show marked the first time I realized that I wanted to be on the stage for the rest of my career. After Music Man, I auditioned for any show I could find, just to be on stage again. For the remainder of my middle and high school days I performed in musicals such as: Cinderella, Bound for Broadway, Urinetown, On the Town, Smile, Back to the 80’s, Great American Trailer Park Musical.
My play career in school included: The Crucible, The Importance of Being Earnest, Rumors, and The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh.
My favorite roles to date are: The Beast in Beauty and the Beast, Professor Callahan in Legally Blonde, The Voice of Audrey II in Little Shop of Horrors, Edna Turnblad in Hairspray, Buddy the Elf in Elf the Musical, and Jack in Into the Woods.
Now comes the lighting and management history: after I began high school, my previous middle school contacted me to assist with the lighting design for their next show. It was a success and I continued to design their shows throughout my high school career.
Since then I have designed huge musicals such as: Urinetown, Shrek, The Odd Couple, Legally Blonde, James and the Giant Peach, Anything Goes, Steel Magnolias, Don’t Drink the Water, Les Miserables, and more.
I began stage management at Studio Playhouse for a show called Appropriate, which earned me my first NJACT Perry Award Nomination.
I would like to end this with one of my favorite quotes. “The saddest thing in life is wasted talent.”
